April | May 25 Edition
In this edition of Coast Lines, we’re diving into the heart of the Fleurieu and celebrating the rich history and vibrant culture of our region.
We kick things off with the South Australian Wooden Boat Festival in Goolwa, showcasing the craftsmanship at the Armfield Wooden Boat Working Museum. Continuing with our love of boats and history, we explore the Storm Boy Discovery Trail, which highlights Goolwa’s fascinating past.
This edition also takes a peek at the upcoming Festival Fleurieu, which is set to take over Yankalilla and the surrounding coastal areas, bringing excitement and a true celebration of our community. We also step back in time with a visit to the Strathalbyn Museum, where we uncover the stories that shaped this historic town.
Lastly, for those looking to get outside and support a great cause, we encourage you to lace up your hiking boots and join the trek on Kangaroo Island, taking in breathtaking coastal views while raising funds for Trees for Life.

Welcome to the February-March 2025 Edition!
As we bid farewell to summer and welcome the crisp, golden days of autumn—the besttime of year in my opinion—we’re treated to an exciting line-up of events across the region. This edition is packed with inspiration, celebration, and adventure.
We kick things off by honouring International Women’s Day, recognising the incredible women who continue to shape our communities. We also delve into the Fleurieu Film Festival, catching up with Carolyn, the festival director, to learn about her journey and the future of this exciting event.
Sellicks Beach Historical Motorcycle Races are coming up in March, a highlight for our region every second year. This thrilling event promises to be a must-see over the next couple of months. And, we’re thrilled to introduce Buttoned Up Co, a wonderful business and outcome of the Fleurieu Future Leaders Program. Meet the women behind this exciting venture and their innovative community charity.
There’s so much to explore and celebrate, and I’m excited to share it all with you in this edition. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as we’ve enjoyed putting it together.

April/May 2024
Welcome to our action-packed community magazine!
As we gear up for the upcoming months, we have an exciting lineup of events awaiting us. From the Easter long weekend to honouring ANZAC Day, alongside school holidays and Mother’s Day, there’s plenty to look forward to. May these occasions be filled with cherished moments spent with loved ones.

We also explore the resurgence of vinyl records in the music industry, tapping into the nostalgia and joy they bring to enthusiasts. And as Mother’s Day approaches, we celebrate in a manner that resonates with many of our readers.

February/March 2024
With immense pride and genuine excitement, I welcome you to the February–March edition of Coast Lines. This one feels a little different… because it’s the beginning of a new chapter—not just for the magazine, but for me personally, as I step into the role entrusted to me by the incredible Ashley and Jenny Porter.
For more than a decade, Coast Lines has been a much-loved voice for our region—a celebration of community, stories, and spirit. I’m honoured to carry that legacy forward and build upon it with you. Together, let’s continue to explore the vibrant people, places, and passions that make the Fleurieu Peninsula so special.
This edition is packed with powerful storytelling and local pride. We shine a spotlight on leadership and empowerment with a feature on the Fleurieu Future Leaders Program, and delve into local events like the Sellicks Beach Historical Motorcycle Races and the ever-inspiring Fleurieu Film Festival. You’ll meet a local wine project making global waves, a young boxing talent with a bright future, and the tireless volunteers behind our beloved Second Nature Conservancy and Dolphin Watch.
“Footprints” returns with more inspiration to get out and explore our own backyard, and we take a look back in time with a historical feature reminding us of the roots that ground us.
Whether you’re reading from the comfort of home or with sandy feet on the beach, thank you for picking up this edition. I hope you find something within these pages that makes you smile, think, or feel a little more connected to this beautiful region we call home.
Here’s to new beginnings, shared stories, and the exciting road ahead.
Warm wishes,

Summer 2023-24 edition
A Fond Farewell, and a Bright Future
After producing 156 editions of Coast Lines since launching in September 2011, this edition marks the final chapter of our journey as publishers and editors of your community magazine. It’s been a joy and a privilege to share stories from across the Fleurieu Peninsula—stories of resilience, celebration, creativity, and connection. We thank you, our loyal readers and advertisers, for your incredible support along the way.
But this isn’t the end of Coast Lines. In fact, it’s just the beginning of an exciting new chapter.
We’re delighted to introduce Susie Williams as the new editor and publisher, beginning with the February–March 2025 edition. Susie brings with her a wealth of experience, a deep love for the region, and a bright, fresh approach. As the founder of the Fleurieu App, a fifth-generation Willunga local, and someone deeply involved in the media and community landscape, Susie is perfectly placed to guide Coast Lines into its next era.
From February, Coast Lines will become a bi-monthly publication, combining print and a stronger digital presence—still free, still local, and still driven by a love of community. We’re thrilled to say this isn’t goodbye entirely—Ashley will still contribute the occasional feature.
To everyone who has been part of this journey—thank you. We’ve treasured every moment, and we know Coast Lines is in the best possible hands moving forward.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Ashley & Jenny Porter
